Synopsis:
The family of a stuffy banker advertise for a nanny for their young children and Mary Poppins arrives, seemingly blown by the winds. With her chimney-sweep friends and an ability to perform magic, she opens the children's eyes to the worlds of imagination and the family home into a happier, sunnier place.
Review:
Based on the book by P.I.Travers, typically ambitious Disney mixture of live-action and animation which was a huge popular hit. Julie Andrews is the perfect magical nanny and Dick Van Dyke's Cockney accent provides many unintended laughs. Perfect family viewing. Oscar-winning songs include 'Feed The Birds', 'Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' and 'Chim-Chim-Cher-ee.
