Having relocated to a gentrified London neighbourhood after receiving a major international award, architect Miguel Moreno is offered a lucrative but morally fraught commission: to design a doomsday bunker for a reclusive tech billionaire. As Miguel weighs the job against what it might cost him, his wife Sofia, a publishing editor, finds their seventeen-year marriage tested by the strain, drawing the couple into a slow-burning reckoning with love, fidelity and the anxieties of an uncertain age.
Review:
A rich, fascinating study of a marriage under pressure, elevated by explosive, deeply committed performances from real-life spouses Cruz and Bardem, even where the film's tonal balancing act between the theatrical and satirical doesn't always land.
