Aubrey Flint, a reclusive model soldier painter with a deep-seated disdain for Christmas, is sentenced to community service at Willow Lodge, a charming but struggling retirement home threatened with closure. Begrudgingly roped into directing a chaotic resident-led production of A Christmas Carol, Aubrey clashes with the home's colourful cast of residents, including a chain-smoking ex-diva and a quietly wise model-shop owner. As rehearsals spiral into comic mayhem, friendships form and Aubrey is forced to confront not just the ghosts of Christmas past, but his own buried grief and regrets, rediscovering the unexpected magic of friendship and community along the way.
Review:
A warm, funny and spirited tale of second chances that delivers timeless Christmas movie heart with a thoroughly modern sparkle, anchored by an excellent, deeply British ensemble cast.
