In foggy, early Victorian London, the miserly and friendless businessman Ebenezer Scrooge is visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley, who warns him of a fate worse than death unless he changes his ways. Forced through a supernatural journey guided by the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, Scrooge confronts the choices that shaped his isolation, the suffering his miserliness inflicts on those around him, including his loyal clerk Bob Cratchit and his warm-hearted nephew Fred, and the bleak future that awaits him if he refuses to change, in a darker, more atmospheric gothic reimagining of Dickens's beloved novella.
Review:
A visually striking, atmospherically gothic reinvention that leans fully into supernatural dread, anchored by a heavily transformed Johnny Depp performance in his high-profile return to major studio filmmaking.
