Synopsis:
In the aftermath of the ferocious Thirty Years' War, a scarred female soldier dangerously inveigles her way into a strict, isolated Protestant farming community by posing as a man claiming an abandoned farmstead as his inheritance. Seemingly dispassionate in its watchful, austere monochrome cinematography, yet quietly devastating in its unflinching look at gender-based prejudice and intolerance.
Review:
A masterful, quietly devastating triumph that finds real power in austere monochrome restraint, Sandra Hüller once again delivering an award-worthy central performance.
